Firstly, thank you for visiting my personal website.
I've worked in fields as diverse as aviation, defence and education. It has been a fascinating journey - working on a multi-hundred-million-pound infrastructure deal one year and co-authoring a paper on education reform the next.
During my career I have also undertaken ad hoc speech writing for senior Conservative ministers. In my campaigning, I am constantly aware of the huge gulf between the world of Westminster think-tanks and the reality of life for most businesses, individuals and families.
I regularly fundraise for a fantastic sight loss charity – a cause close to my heart as I spent a number of years as a child with severe sight loss. I lead on policy issues for the Conservative Friends of the Armed Forces. I have appeared on numerous media outlets including the Daily Politics, a live interview with Huw Edwards, GB News, Sky News and BBC Radio.
In 2011, I was asked by the local Council Leader if I would put myself up for election. I’ve always been active in my local community and I wanted to sort out a dangerous air quality problem in the street I grew up in, so I ran in an opposition-held ward and won the seat. Three years later as Cabinet Member for Finance I delivered on my manifesto commitments including introducing one of the biggest Council tax cuts in the country and securing record investment in our communities.
I now serve in the Conservative Party as a Regional Chairman, an elected and voluntary role.
If I’m not busy doing any of the above you can find me swimming, sailing, cooking or walking in the countryside.
